Consolidate brand files in one place. Use the uploaded files in design or set them as downloads.

Uploading files

There are multiple ways to add files into a project.
  1. Drag and drop files anywhere within the Editor or the dashboard project page to upload.
  2. Navigate to the Files tab in the top right of the UI and select the Upload button.
  3. Upload directly to an element you’ve added to the project, such as Media.
Note: The maximum upload size limit for individual files is 100MB. The storage amount is 2GB per project on Plus and Pro plans, and a custom amount for Enterprise plans.

Removing files

Files can be removed individually, or they can be removed in bulk by navigating to the file browser and selecting Remove files. This mode lets you select as many files as you wish and remove them in a single click. Additionally, while in the remove files mode, Select unused files will become available. This action shows the number of unused files in your project, and can select them all to be removed in bulk. This feature is helpful when looking to conserve storage space after finishing a project.
Note: File data is stored separately from project history and backups. Removing a file is a permanent action that cannot be reversed by restoring a previous backup of a project. Additionally, removing any files from file browser in the editor that are used in a published project will remove them from the live site as well. Take caution when removing files.

Labeling files

Labels are generic titles that can be used to group files together as collapsable sections in the file browser. Adding labels can be a helpful way to organize your files. Each file may have only a single (1) label applied at once.
1

Select file or file settings icon

Select a file, or the three vertical dots appearing on hover over the file.
2

Choose label action

Create a new label, or assign an existing label to the file.
3

Return to files list

The labeled file will now show in the list under the label
Note: Labels are just for internal organization

Replacing files

Files may be replaced after uploading by any other file. Replacing a file retains all existing links and references to the file in the Project, and updates them to the newer file. The replaced file will assume the name of the newer file.
1

Select a file, or the three vertical dots appearing on hover over the file.

Tip: Standards does not currently support the ability to rename files after they’ve been uploaded. To remedy this, use the replace feature to replace a file with the same file and different file name. The replaced file will use the newer name.

File downloads

You can create a download link to any file you’ve uploaded to a project. This helps you share important brand assets with a large team from a single place. Many elements can be enabled with a click to download behavior, including buttons, live text, and media.
1

Select element

From within the body or the left sidebar, select the element to set the download on
2

Set click behavior

With the element selected, select the click behavior (mouse click icon) from the contextual toolbar
3

Set download file behavior

Select Download file and then either Choose file or Upload file. Review your choices and confirm.
Note: Standards allows you to set a custom download resolution for images you’ve uploaded. This can be defined from the contextual widget when setting a download link.

Image descriptions

Image descriptions are short text based statements that describe the subject or the meaning of visual content, and are programmed to display when that visual content is not available, such as when browsing with a screen reader.

Add alternate text to a File

1

Open files tab

Within the editor, select the Files tab from the top right of the sidebar
2

Select file

From the file list, select the desired file
3

Input description

Input alternate text into the Image description field. This will be used anywhere the file is used, such as within a Media element

Writing descriptions for Files

When writing a description for a File, the best practice is to simply describe the subject or content rather than the meaning, since it could be placed in any context. Example: “Logo surrounded by an empty frame defined by the height of the symbol” Learn more about Accessibility

Is Standards a DAM (Digital Assets Manager)?

With 2 GB storage per project on Plus and Pro plans, many of the features required from a DAM can be met by Standards. Standards can also work in conjunction with an existing DAM if one is already used by your organization. Linking to any type of file repository is easy, meaning Standards can act as a brand hub that links out to various resources for your brand (such as Dropbox folders, DAM repositories, Figma libraries, etc.) Securely embed your published Standards projects inside an existing DAM, team portal, website, and more with Secure Embed.
