Pro & Enterprise An MCP server that gives AI agents structured, on-demand access to your published brand guidelines.

Basics

The Model Context Protocol (MCP) is an open standard that allows AI tools to connect to external data sources. When you enable MCP on a Standards project, your published guidelines become available as a live data source that AI tools can query by page — so the tool retrieves only the information it needs, when it needs it.

Enable MCP

1

Open AI settings

From the project sidebar in the Standards app, select AI to open the AI settings page.
2

Add MCP

On the MCP card, click Add, then click Get started.
3

Configure security

Choose a security mode:
  • Tokenized link — Anyone with the MCP server link can access your guidelines. Best for personal use and trusted tools.
  • Sign-in required — Users must authenticate before accessing. Their email must be in the project’s access list. Available on Enterprise plans.
4

Copy the MCP server link

After setup, copy the MCP server link. This is the URL you’ll paste into your AI tool’s MCP configuration.

How it works

Once connected, the AI tool can browse your project’s pages and retrieve content on demand. The MCP server exposes a tool that lists available pages and retrieves individual page content as structured markdown — including text, color values, typography specs, and image descriptions. Adding a description to your pages will help AI tools retrieve the most relevant data when fulfilling requests. The server always returns content from your latest publish. After publishing changes in Standards, any connected AI tool will get the updated content on its next request.

Security

The default option. The MCP server link includes a unique token. Anyone with the link can query your guidelines. You can reset the token at any time from the AI settings page, which will disconnect any tools using the previous link.

Sign-in required

Enterprise Requires users to authenticate before the MCP server responds to requests. The user’s email must match the project’s access list. This option is available when SSO is configured on the project.
