Add to a Claude project (recommended)
Adding a custom instruction to a Claude project is the best way to use standards.md with Claude. By pointing Claude to your share link, every conversation in the project will fetch the latest version of your guidelines automatically — no manual updates needed after each publish.Create or open a project
In Claude, open an existing project or create a new one.
Copy the share link
From the AI settings page in Standards, click the copy button on the standards.md card.
Add a custom instruction
In the project settings, add a custom instruction that tells Claude to fetch your guidelines from the share link. For example:“Visit this URL to get an up to date brand guidelines document: [paste link]. Reference these guidelines for all brand-related questions including tone, color values, typography, and logo usage.”
Paste the link
For one-off conversations, paste the share link directly into a message. The link always fetches your latest published guidelines.Copy the share link
From the AI settings page in Standards, click the copy button on the standards.md card.
Paste into Claude
Open Claude, start a new conversation, and paste the link into the message input along with your prompt. For example: “Here are my brand guidelines: [paste link]. Create a press release following these guidelines.”
Upload the file
You can download the file and attach it to a conversation or project.Uploaded files are a snapshot and will not reflect changes published after the file was downloaded. Re-download after publishing to stay current.
Download your standards.md file
From the AI settings page in Standards, click the download button on the standards.md card to save the file to your computer.
Start a new Claude conversation
Open Claude and start a new conversation.
Attach the file
Click the attachment icon in the message input and select your downloaded standards.md file.
