# ChatGPT

Connect your Standards MCP server to ChatGPT for brand-aware conversations with live access to your guidelines.

  MCP support in ChatGPT requires Developer Mode, currently available in beta to Pro, Plus, Business, Enterprise, and Education accounts on the web.

## Enable Developer Mode

Developer Mode must be enabled before you can add MCP servers to ChatGPT.

  <Step title="Open ChatGPT settings">
    In [ChatGPT](https://chatgpt.com), click your profile icon in the bottom-left corner and select *Settings*.

  <Step title="Enable Developer Mode">
    Navigate to **Apps** → **Advanced settings** and toggle on **Developer Mode**.

## Connect

  <Step title="Copy your MCP server link">
    From the AI settings page in Standards, copy the MCP server link from the **MCP** card.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Add the MCP server">
    In ChatGPT click on Settings and then Apps. Click Create app.

  <Step title="Enter details">
    Fill in the app details and paste the MCP URL from your Standards project. If using the "Tokenized link" security setting, switch the **Authentication** to "No Auth".

    * **App name** — e.g. `Brand Guidelines`
    * **Description** — e.g. `Access our published brand guidelines`
    * **MCP URL** — Paste the MCP server link copied from Standards

  <Step title="Verify the connection">
    After clicking "Create", start a new conversation. The Standards tools should be available for ChatGPT to use.

## Usage

Once connected, ChatGPT can access your brand guidelines on demand. You can ask questions like:

* *"What are our brand colors and their hex values?"*
* *"Write social copy following our brand voice guidelines."*
* *"What are the rules for logo clearspace?"*

ChatGPT will query the relevant pages from your published guidelines to inform its response.
